I'm a relatively quiet person, but with strong views and interests. Once I feel comfortable with someone, I am a good conversationalist and can have occasional flashes of zany humour.
I am tall(ish), slim, intelligent but not an intellectual, with a wide range of interests and, I believe, a caring nature. Looks and personality you would have to judge for yourself if and when we meet, but the photos are from 2015 and 2016, and are not airbrushed or Photoshopped!
I'm a retired IT consultant who likes languages and most kinds of music, especially classical orchestral, opera and traditional jazz. I go out walking occasionally (preferably in good weather!), which keeps me reasonably fit and active, and I also like the cinema, the theatre, reading, painting and writing. In my local U3A I enjoy French, German, Russian, Music Appreciation and Art. On TV I like good drama, documentaries, off-beat humour and the occasional sports programme.
I spent eight years working in Belgium and also eight years in retirement in Australia. After returning to the UK because of the Global Financial Crisis, I moved to Bolton at the end of 2014 to be close to family.
I am an atheist, and on the left politically, but without being strident about either. However, it's very unlikely that I could form a friendship with someone who is devoutly religious and/or is to the right politically. As a non-smoker, smoking is the one thing I absolutely can't compromise on.
